The Perfect Couple
What do you get when you combine Big Little Lies with a dash of The White Lotus and one of the most prolific beach-read writers (and trust me, I mean this in the most complimentary way) of our time? The Perfect Couple, a murder-mystery series adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel of the same name. The series follows Amelia (Eve Hewson), a woman about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. But when the lavish ceremony—which was planned in full by Amelia’s soon-to-be mother-in-law, novelist Greer Garrison (Nicole Kidman)—is derailed by a body turning up on the beach, the picture-perfect event starts to crumble. Dakota Fanning, Meghann Fahy and Liev Schreiber also star. September 5
Rebel Ridge
You may fondly remember AnnaSophia Robb for making children in schools everywhere cry during Bridge to Terabithia (or, if you’re like me, you enjoy waxing poetic about her underrated star turn in Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries, which was also one of Austin Butler’s earlier roles). But now we get to see a new side of the actor in Rebel Ridge. The action-thriller is led by Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad), who plays Terry, a former Marine whose savings are unjustly taken from him when he arrives in a small town to post bail for his cousin. From there, Terry sets out to take on the corrupt local police force, and uncovers an insidious conspiracy with the help from a court clerk (Robb) along the way. September 6
Selling Sunset (Season 8)
Pack your bags—or moving boxes—for L.A., because Selling Sunset is back for season eight. The Oppenheim Group must face a struggling luxury real estate market—while dealing with the usual interpersonal dramatics, of course. Over the span of 11 episodes, they’ll also be welcoming a new agent—and saying goodbye to another. September 6
Emily in Paris (Season 4 Part 2)
Emily in Paris is about to become…Emily in Rome? When the Lily Collins-fronted show returns for the latter half of its fourth season later this month, marketing guru Emily is enjoying her newly cemented relationship with chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). But as secrets begin to catch up with the couple, Emily jets off to Rome for a new adventure, which begs the question: are the duo built to last? September 12
Uglies
If you were reading YA anywhere between 2005 and 2015, you’ve probably read at least one of the novels in Scott Westerfeld’s dystopian series Uglies. The first book reportedly entered film development back in 2006, but an on-screen adaptation never materialized—until now. The story is set in a world where everyone undergoes extensive plastic surgery to turn them into a “Pretty” when they turn 16. Tally (Joey King), like most, is excited for her cosmetic procedures, but when she meets a fellow “Ugly” who goes missing on the eve of their surgery date, she embarks on a quest to find her and begins to question everything she’s ever thought she wanted. September 13
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
Prolific TV creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Murphy’s 2022 venture, based-on-real-events serial killer drama Dahmer, was so popular, the duo turned it into a true-crime anthology series. Its second edition is Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, based on the high-profile ’90s case about two brothers who were accused (and then convicted) of killing their parents in gruesome fashion. Chloë Sevigny, Javier Bardem, Nathan Lane, Ari Graynor, Leslie Grossman and newcomers Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch star. September 19
His Three Daughters
Elizabeth Olsen, Natasha Lyonne and Carrie Coon are three actors you can always count on for compelling, give-it-all performances, and now the trio are combining their talents in His Three Daughters. The movie drama follows three estranged sisters who come back together to care for their father during his final days, leaving them to confront past issues in the face of grief. September 20
Nobody Wants This
Romcom fans, consider Nobody Wants This essential viewing. Created by Erin Foster (daughter of Canadian music mogul David Foster) and inspired by her IRL love story, the comedy series stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as Joanne—a no-bullshit podcaster—and Noah, a somewhat unconventional rabbi. Sparks fly when the duo meet, and from there it’s up to them to figure out if they can make a relationship work despite their very different lifestyles—and not a ton of support from the people in their lives. September 26
Rez Ball
Sometimes, nothing hits more than a sports drama. Enter Rez Ball, which follows a high school basketball team from a reservation in New Mexico with a deep connection to their Native American heritage. But when they lose their star player, they must come together in new ways to keep chasing the state championship. Jessica Matten, Amber Midthunder and Dallas Goldtooth are among the ensemble cast of the movie, which is also co-written by Reservation Dog’s Sterlin Harjo and produced by NBA star Lebron James. September 27
Will & Harper
SNL vets and best friends Will Ferrell and Harper Steele developed an instant bond when they first met in 1995. Intimate documentary Will & Harper puts their relationship under the spotlight, chronicling the duo on a 16-day road trip just after Steele had publicly come out as trans. September 27
