Girls5eva (Season 1)

Girls5eva, the oddball Tina Fey-executive produced comedy about a ‘90s girl group trying to make their comeback in the 2020s, is one of the most underrated comedies on TV because it was, honestly, kind of hard to find. But now that it is moving to Netflix for an eventual season three, I have no doubt that more people will be eagerly watching it, humming along to the original songs that are, frankly, better than they have any right to be, and delighting in the hilarious antics of stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this show again.

Freeridge

If you’ve been missing YA dramedy On My Block, get ready to return to the world of Freeridge. This spinoff series promises the same sense of humour, but follows a new group of teens who, somehow, unleash a curse on themselves, sending their lives into chaos.

You (Season 4, Part 1)

Hello, You. Everyone’s favourite (we should probably be reevaluating this opinion, right?) creepy stalker-slash-serial killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back. But this time around, he’s living in London, going by a different name and has started a new job as a professor. It doesn’t take long before he falls into a group of obscenely wealthy friends. When the pals start being targeted by the “Eat the Rich Killer,” Joe becomes obsessed with revealing the new murderer’s identity. Season four will be split into two parts of five episodes each (the second half debuts next month), so you might want to slow down your binge watching on this one.

Love to Hate You

On their own, two people pretending to date each other and two people who absolutely despise each other before slowly falling in love are excellent romcom tropes. New K-drama Love to Hate You combines both, which basically makes it essential Valentine’s Day-adjacent viewing. To get more specific, this one follows entertainment lawyer Yeo Mi-ran (Kim Ok-vin) and A-list actor Nam Kang-ho (Teo Yoo), both of whom have a pathological dislike towards people of the opposite sex. But then the duo are forced to enter a love contract that has them publicly dating for three months. I’m sure we can  all guess where this is going.

Your Place or Mine

Reese Witherspoon is returning to her romcom roots (yay!), and to do so, she’s taking on quite the challenge. In Your Place or Mine (which, btw, was written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna, the brains behind projects like The Devil Wears Prada and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Witherspoon’s main love interest is played by Ashton Kutcher—and the two characters are hardly spend anytime in the same room. How does that work? Well, the pair star as Debbie and Peter, two long-distance, total-opposite BFFs who decide to swap homes for a week. By doing so, they get a lot more than they bargained for—which may include some unexpected romance.

Perfect Match

The search for the ultimate dating reality competition series is over. Perfect Match brings together fan-favourite stars from other hugely popular Netflix reality shows—including Love Is Blind, Too Hot to Handle and The Circle—for a second chance at televised love. The show is hosted by—who else?—Nick Lachey, and contestants will have to compete to couple up, while trying to get other pairings to split. Let the chaos ensue.

African Queens: Njinga

Jada Pinkett Smith is executive producing this new docuseries, which uses dramatizations and expert interviews to dive deep into the lives of some of history’s most prominent African queens. First up is African Queens: Njinga, focusing on the first woman ruler of the Ndongo and Matamba nations (modern day Angola). Taking her reign in the 17th century and leading for almost four decades, she was known for her diplomacy, military prowess and resistance against Portuguese colonization.

Red Rose

We could all probably exercise a bit more critical thought when it comes to how we use our phones and the many apps we have downloaded on them. The teens in British show Red Rose could really use a reminder like that. The horror series follows a group of friends during the summer whose lives are changed when they download an app that corrupts their phones and begins making outrageous demands of its user—each of which grows more dangerous and deadly.

Outer Banks (Season 3)

It’s been a long hiatus, but the Pogues are finally back. Outer Banks—a.k.a. the teen drama du jour—is returning for a third season that finds the central characters washed ashore on an idyllic desert island. But paradise doesn’t last long when John B. et al are, once again, caught up in the race for treasure that has them running for their lives.

We Have a Ghost

We must not repeat the mistakes of our past, which means when Jennifer Coolidge is in a movie, we will be watching it. The White Lotus star joins Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, Tig Notaro and more in We Have a Ghost, a comedy-horror flick about a ghost named Ernest (Harbour), who is haunting the home Kevin (Jahi Di’Allo Winston) and his family move into. Together, Ernest and Kevin become viral internet stars, which puts them on the radar of the CIA.
