The internet’s ultimate kindred spirit is returning to the small screen, which is great, because without this Anne of Green Gables reboot in 2016, our lives truly would be a “perfect graveyard of buried hopes”.

The CBC has just announced an 8 episode series based on the beloved Lucy Maud Montgomery novel, which is exciting, all though we’re unsure how it could possibly top the 1985 classic we all grew up on. (And could any Gil be dreamier than Jonathan Crombie?)

It’s set to start filming this spring, and promises “new adventures reflecting timeless issues, including themes of identity, sexism, bullying, prejudice, and trusting one’s self.” No word on who’s set to play Anne, but one things for sure: She’ll need to answer to “carrots”.
