Over the past few weeks, we’ve gotten a glimpse inside many celebrity homes because of international quarantines and the Instagram Live feature. Drake’s new house tour featured in Architectural Digest, however, is much more than just a peek at a sprawling backyard or a cozy family room – it’s a deep dive.

According to AD, the rapper’s luxurious Toronto property, “The Embassy,” is a 50,000-square-foot mansion with an NBA regulation-sized indoor basketball court and modern Art Deco interiors.

Drake enlisted Oakville, Ont.-based interior designer and architect Ferris Rafauli for the build. “This isn’t stucco, paint and fake gold,” Rafauli said of the house’s design. “That’s not what Drake wanted and that’s not what I do.”

Of course, music is a big part of the home; there is a Takashi Murakami-designed grand piano in the great room and a fully-equipped recording studio that Drake described to AD as “eccentric 1970s studios mixed with Annabel’s in London.” You might even recognize some of the rooms from Drake’s music videos, like his dimly light studio lounge featured in the visuals for “When to Say When”/”Chicago Freestyle” and “Toosie Slide.”

Drake told AD that his favourite place in his house is the master bedroom. “The bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day,” he said. “The bed lets you float, the shower lets you escape and gather your thoughts, and the closet makes you want to talk to yourself while you’re getting dressed.”

If you were wondering where he keeps all his awards (and there are many), they have their own room, with accolades dating back to his days on Degrassi. “I think the house shows that I have true faith in myself to take on this task when I was just 27 and see it through,” said Drake. “I also think the house says that I will forever remain solid in the place I was born.”

There was no mention of where his two-year-old son, Adonis, stays within the home, but if it’s anything like the rest of the house, it’s easily the most glamorous toddler’s room in Canada.
