What’s better than grabbing a cup of coffee at your fave local cafe? Doing so while Ryan Gosling walks in.

That’s what happened yesterday at Grinder Coffee in Leslieville’s Toronto neighbourhood. Staff at the cafe had been running an online campaign to get the Canadian actor to stop by the coffee shop while he was in town for TIFF—and it actually worked.

“This happened,” they wrote on their social media, along with a photo of Gosling and shop owner Joelle Murray. “A big thanks to Ryan for taking the time out of TIFF to visit Leslieville. What a gracious well brought up Canadian boy.”

Murray told CTV News that the 37-year-old London, Ontario native stopped by the cafe for a few minutes and that it was actually his mother who convinced him to make the visit. “He actually [saw] all the posts and thought they were quite funny,” she said.
