Sure, when you compare it to what her big sister’s wedding cost, Pippa Middleton’s upcoming nuptials seem like a backyard wedding catered by the groom’s great-aunt. But on the scale of non-taxpayer-funded Big Days…it’s on the eye-watering end of things.
The royal adjacent is marrying her financier beau on May 20, and as we wait for George and Charlotte’s big debut in the wedding party, a British wedding company have added up their estimated total, and well, are you sitting down?
The cost for Pippa’s wedding will be approx $450,000 Canadian dollars. That’s a condo. Or a house anywhere that’s not Toronto.
What does that staggering sum cover? Well, food for 350 guests (they’re estimating the catering bill at around $150,000 dollars), a (rumoured) Giles Deacon frock for Pippa (around $25,000) and what Bridebook, a U.K.-based wedding planning website and app, are thinking will be around 230 bottles of champagne, plus marquee, favours and all the other sundries weddings required, including “luxury bathroom facilities”, since the wedding is taking place at the Middleton family home.
