After dating for nearly a year, Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have called it quits. TMZ and Page Six reported the breakup yesterday, with a source confirming the news to People shortly after.

Cyrus confirmed the breakup herself on Instagram Live last night. “It came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up,” she said. “It was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it. But right now, two halves can’t make a whole, and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age.”

Cyrus and Simpson were first spotted together in October 2019, after Cyrus and longtime partner Liam Hemsworth broke up. (Hemsworth and Cyrus wed in December 2018 and split after less than a year of marriage.) Simpson and Cyrus have been open with sharing their relationship on social media; Simpson posted a photo of the two together on Instagram earlier this month with the caption “in love with my best friend.”

It seems like the exes are still on good terms, though – Cyrus just dropped a new track called “Midnight Sky” last night and Simpson took to Instagram to share his support of her music. “So proud of you. Congratulations to the most special of all,” he posted on his Instagram Story.
