There’s a long-standing royal tradition of playing super not so subtle sartorial homage to the country they’re visiting—we see you, maple leaf pin that Kate wears every time she comes to Canada—and Meghan Markle is embracing it, albeit in a very chic way.

Meghan (plus Harry) is in Scotland today, and for the occasion, she went literal and wore a tartan coat by Burberry (retails for around $3000) for their walk-about in Edinburgh. What was most unusual, however, about the outfit was her bag, and the fact that wore the Strathberry mini…cross body. Not clutched in her hand, or in the crook of her elbow, but slung over her coat. It’s a major break with royal bag tradition that’s lot to absorb, we know.

And lest you think she’s forgotten her Canadian connect, she wore Birks jewels once again—the “Splash” and “Snowflake” rings, to be precise.

She and Harry also met this super cute pony, who, awkwardly was also wearing a tartan coat.
