Sad news for the world of architecture—and anyone who loves beautiful buildings and seeing women break ground in a male-dominated field—today as word comes that Zaha Hadid has died.

The architect, known as The Queen of the Curve for her dramatic, sinuous designs, passed suddenly due to a heart attack at the age of 65.

Hadid was the mastermind behind iconic buildings like the London Aquatic Centre, the Guangzhou Opera Centre in China and the Kurfurstendamm in Berline.
