The human rights lawyer, who spoke at the Texas Conference for Women this week, told the audience the person she looks up to the most in the world is her mom, Baria Alamuddin. “I think growing up my mother was definitely a role model, she was always a working woman and someone who is independent and cared about her career and cared about being independent but also had a balance,” she said.

For background, Baria Alamuddin is an award-winning journalist, sits on the advisory board of the Tällberg Forum (which support sustainable development) and is the president of the International Arab Charity.  She is also partially responsible for the creation of the unicorn that is Amal (see below).
