It may not come as a surprise – yet it is still disappointing – to hear that less than 2 percent of art sold is made by women. Mrkt Gallery, a curated online gallery promoting women artists’ works, serves as an antidote to this issue. Now, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) has joined forces with the virtual gallery to create a special pop-up shop featuring prints by women.
Artists selling works in the virtual pop-up include Toronto illustrator Carmen Lew, London, Ont.-based speech-language pathologist and artist Meaghan Victoria Prouse and Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary creator Chantel Walkes. Prints are $45 for AGO members and $50 for non-members.
You can shop works from the AGO x Mrkt Gallery virtual pop-up here until November 6. See selected works from the pop-up below.
Alyssa Goodman, ‘Village’
Carmen Lew, ‘Finding Space’

Rachel Joanis, ‘Social Women’
