Bella Hadid never looks like she’s wearing any makeup, which is why I needed to know exactly what makeup she uses (because as we know, no-makeup makeup is often the result of more subtle trickery than look-at-this-makeup makeup). Below, Vincent Oquendo tells us exactly what he used to create Hadid’s “Italian movie star glow” at last night’s LA Fashion Awards, where she was crowned Model of the Year.

Tell us about the look you created for Bella tonight.
The look was inspired by the Sicilian summer. I wanted to give her that Italian movie star glow.

What did she tell you about the vibe she is going for?
The thing that was most important for Bella is that she wanted to look fresh. So immediately I reached for my EX1 Invisiwear Foundation and used a fluffy brush to apply a veil to perfect her skin, then followed with a wash of Pretty in Peach Blusher on the apples of her cheeks and on her eyelids to give her that summer glow. I finished the look with a matte bronzer under her cheekbones and on the crease of her eye, followed by a generous coating of black mascara to the upper lashes only and some petal pink lip-gloss to give her lips a pout.

She seems to have amazing skin. How do you create the dewy/glow-y look without looking too overdone under the flashes?
It’s all about strategic shine. For instance I love to use a creamy highlighter on Bella on her cheek plane and brow bone to help direct the eye [there]. I powder everywhere else so she isn’t too shiny on the carpet.

Any mishaps?
No Bella is an angel 😉
