Spring 2015 fashion week beauty bag: What to pack
How to load up your beauty bag with the essentials for running from cabs to shows to backstage during fashion week.
Fashion week is one of the most glorious and stress-filled times of the year—but if plan your beauty routine appropriately, you can still look your best through all the runway and backstage madness. So we asked Grace Lee, Maybelline New York Canada’s lead makeup artist for her expert packing and survival tips on making it through the week like a pro.
1. Pack a 360-beauty rescue kit.
“A killer pair of heels, a comfortable pair of flats, a great coat, sunglasses, a bright lipstick, like Maybelline New York Vivids Lipstick in Vivid Rose,” says Lee. “And you mustn’t forget concealer!” As for keeping tired eyes bright all week, “Never, ever, ever leave the house without mascara!” Noted.

2. Keep your lip palette fall-appropriate.
The shows may be geared toward Spring 2015, but friends, we’re full swing into fall. Go for nude or rich berry-stained lips, Lee advises. “Both are a staple for fall,” she says. “For eyes, I would say the blacker the makeup, the better.”
3. Re-apply your makeup in a cab like a pro.
Sometimes the only chance you get for a beauty touch-up is in a cab, on your way to the next show. “Wait for the red light to apply liner or lipstick!” Lee warns.

4. Keep skin matte and fresh.

5. Stay hydrated (and caffeinated).
Long days and late nights are unavoidable with fashion week—but so is a palpable, pulsating energy that will hopefully keep you going throughout. Before fatigue inevitably sets it, “Take your vitamins and stay hydrated with water and coconut water,” says Lee. “Of course, coffee and chocolate always help the energy flow. Another tip I live by is to never eat too much salt before going to bed. Doing so will save you from looking puffy and bloated the next morning!”
