A Playful Pimple Patch
Say hello to Starface, the adorable acne-positive brand spotted (pun intended) all over Instagram. Now shipping to Canada, Starface co-founder and former ELLE US Beauty Director Julie Schott created the star-shaped hydrocolloid bandages, Hydro-Stars ($27) to celebrate breakouts, not hide them. And they’re not just cute to look at: the unique shape grips the crevices of your face (like your jaw) in a way round acne patches simply can’t. Also new to Canada is Starface’s second product, Space Wash ($22), a gel-to-foam face cleanser with white willow bark to curb future breakouts with minimal irritation.
A Sweat-Proof Foundation
Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation ($110) is the answer for those who seek a full-coverage foundation that won’t feel like a weighted blanket on your face. The long-wearing formula leaves a natural finish and contains skin-loving ingredients like peptides and is humidity-resistant, making it the perfect foundation to wear if you happen to be sweating under a mask.
A Ceramide-Infused Micellar Water
Drunk Elephant’s latest drop, the E-Rase Milki Micellar Water ($37), is a no-rinse cleanser that gently dissolves impurities without messing with the skin’s first line of defence, the acid mantle. Its pH-balanced formula blends plant oils with micelles and vitamin E to deliver a refreshing and non-drying cleanse.
A High-Shine Lip Gloss
For a lip product that plumps, hydrates and offers a shine that rivals your most annoyingly-sticky-but-can’t-part-with-it gloss, try Sisley-Paris Le Phyto Gloss ($70). Available in ten shades (shimmery or shiny), the gloss contains a special “hydrobooster complex” made up of konjac glucomannans and hyaluronic acid – two ingredients that naturally absorb and retain water – along with a blend of oils that nourish while adding a reflective glint.
A Unisex Fragrance
Michelle Pfeiffer’s sustainable line of genderless fragrances, Henry Rose, just launched the perfect summer fragrance. Smyth Eau de Parfum ($164 for 50 mL) smells like a breezy outdoor picnic: it’s made up of notes of crisp green apple, melon-pineapple sorbet, sappy apricot nectar, white tea, a hint of sandalwood. Daydreaming yet?
A Balm-to-Oil Cleanser
We know the latest addition to the Glow Recipe lineup, Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm ($42) sounds (and looks) good enough to eat, but trust us, it works much better on the skin. This melting balm is loaded with papaya seed oil and extract to hydrate the skin, while papaya enzymes, a natural exfoliant (and common digestive aid) eat away at the grime accumulated by makeup, sweat, pollution and SPF.
A Nightly Treatment
If you’re addicted to exfoliating, SkinCeuticals Glycolic Brightening Renew Overnight ($110) may be your next holy grail skincare product. Gentle enough for nightly use, it contains a stabilized concentration of 4% pure glycolic acid to stimulate cell renewal without causing inflammation.
A Luxe Concealer
Consider this under-eye concealer more of a skincare product than a makeup one. While a swipe of the creamy La Prairie Skin Caviar Perfect Concealer ($235) will immediately banish dark circles, it’s the inclusion of the Swiss brand’s signature – and exclusive – cellular complex to smooth and brighten the eye area with longterm use that makes this special.
A Makeup-Perfecting Mist
Five years in the making, Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray ($41) primes and set makeup for up to 16 hours and has a truly weightless finish .
A Shelfie-Approved Mist
Returning this year, Caudalie’s Limited-Edition Beauty Elixir ($59) looks beautiful on a bathroom counter (or next to your laptop, by your bedside, inside your fridge, etc.) This fragrant botanical mist refreshes thirsty skin, sets makeup and is generally a delightful product. Just try to pry it out of our hands.
A Liner That Won't Smudge
Make Up Forever Aqua Resist Color Pencil Eyeliner ($27) is waterproof, sweat-proof, smudge-proof, and offers major colour payoff. Available in three neutral matte shades and seven shimmering colours, the collection is ideal for experimenting with playful graphic eye looks.
An Affordable Vitamin C Serum
Indeed Labs Vitamin C Brightening Drops ($18) contains a non-oxidizing encapsulated form of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to give even the priciest vitamin C serum a run for its money.
A Breathable Moisturizer
Murad Clarifying Oil-Free Water Gel ($62) is ideal for acne-prone skin. Its non-comedogenic formula contains a unique “quorum-sensing” component, Korean red pine extract, which aids in detecting and defending against imbalances and irritation in the skin.
A Makeup Collection À La Française
Chanel effectively captures the magic of Mediterranean glamour with its summer collection, Les Beiges Summer of Glow. Complete with new shades in their signature Healthy Glow Illuminating Powder, Highlighting Fluid, Bronzing Cream, Natural Eyeshadow Palette, Lip Balm and Le Vernis, it’s hard not to envision sipping a chilled glass of rosé while sunbathing along the French Riviera when thinking of the line.
An Elevated Priming Fluid
Formulated with microencapsulated royal jelly – a food that is purported to be responsible for a queen bee’s extended lifespan – Guerlain Abeille Royale Fortifying Lotion ($90 for 150 mL) shields against pollution and bolsters the effectiveness of any products layered over it.
A Heavy-Duty Makeup Remover
The first of two products in YouTube sensation and beauty influencer Patrick Starrr’s new beauty brand One/Size by Patrick Starrr, Go Off Makeup Dissolving Mist ($30) is a unique “no-drip continuous mist” makeup remover that will break down full-beat, heavy makeup in a flash. When rinsed with water, the mist transforms into a translucent foam that leaves skin supple and clean. For those that desire waterless makeup removal, Starrr also launched coconut water-infused Go Off Juiciest Makeup Remover Wipes ($20).
A Zit-Zapping Skincare Line
Salicylic acid is the star ingredient in the new Pixi Clarity Collection, which fights blemishes and oiliness with the help of its gentler cousins, glycolic and lactic acids, while probiotics and aloe vera soothe and protect visibly upset skin.
A Fermented Face Serum
An Amazon exclusive, L’Oréal Paris Youth Code Serum ($40) is a glow-boosting serum that contains an “8% pure ferment essence complex” and promises to refine the texture of skin and while adding luminosity and bounce after only a week of use.
