A Lightweight Lipstick
Have we ever met a Rihanna-backed product that we didn’t love? We think not. Say hello to Fenty Beauty’s latest drop, Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick ($29, sephora.ca). Available in ten high-shine shades, its conditioning formula contains pomegranate oil to lock in moisture, while a hint of barely-there colour adds a summery pop we can’t resist.
An Irresistible Scent
If you’re a fan of Lohn’s hand-poured candles (you should be), then the Toronto-based brand’s latest launch – perfume oil – is sure to please. Blended in small batches, these delicate scents contain a combination of essential oils in a base of coconut oil to create a lightweight yet long-wearing fragrance. We love the scent “Jaro”, which contains woody-citrusy notes of mandarin, ylang ylang and amber. Lohn Perfume Oil ($55, shoplohn.com)
A Prismatic Polish
Add instant dimension – and a touch of magic – to your mani with OPI’s Hidden Prism Collection ($13-$17, opi.com). Wear one of the 12 chromatic hues on each nail to create a mesmerizing colour-shifting effect when the sunlight hits.
A Restorative Mist
Skincare meets aromatherapy in Pixi’s latest launch. Enter Dream-y Mist ($20, pixibeauty.com), a mineral-rich facial mist infused with lavender, jasmine and evening primrose oils to soothe and repair your skin while you catch up on your beauty sleep. Add a spritz to your pillow or sleep mask to experience the aromatic equivalent of a lullaby.
A French Pharmacy Staple
This cult cleanser is now available in three limited edition designs, marking the 25th anniversary of its release. Bioderma Sensibio H2O Limited Edition ($20, bioderma.ca)
An Instant Facial
Level up your summer skincare game with Juice Beauty Prebiotix Instant Flash Facial ($68, sephora.ca). In two minutes flat, tartaric acid, iris, lime caviar, and biodegradable gommage beads work to instantly slough away dead skin cells and create a brightened appearance. The best part? Its packaging is fully recyclable and made from biosresin sugarcane, so you can mask responsibly.
A Primer That Won't Budge
There is a way to make your makeup pop behind a mask: play up your eyes. A single drop of KVD Vegan Beauty Shake Primer ($30, sephora.ca) is enough to intensify eye colour while reducing creasing on even the most deep-set eyes. Just shake, dispense and get to work on perfecting your cat-eye.
A Multi-Functional Makeup Pencil
19/99 was born out of Torontonians Stephanie Spence and Camille Katona’s desire to create high-quality sustainable cosmetics that would appeal across generations. Simone Otis, makeup artist and founding partner of Bite Beauty, worked with the duo to create an edited line of two universally flattering products: Precision Colour Pencil in Voros ($26) and High-Shine Gloss in Glass ($24). New to the lineup is Precision Colour Pencil in Neutra ($26, 1999beauty.com), a creamy-matte all-over face pencil.
A Cooling Moisturizer
Out in the sun a little too long? A dollop of Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb Aloe Vera ($50, sephora.ca) will soothe and re-hydrate desiccated skin. Tip: Store in the fridge (or your mini skincare fridge, if you’re fancy like that) and use as an ultra-cooling moisturizing mask.
A Mushroom-Infused Hair Mask
Snow mushroom extract – known to absorb 500 times its weight in water – is the key ingredient in AG Hair Nourish Mask ($26, aghair.com). This silicone-free mask intensely moisturizes the hair and scalp without leaving any residue. Think of it like skincare for your hair.
A Microbiome-Balancing Skincare Line
Swiss prestige skincare line Valmont’s latest range is here. Chock-full of probiotics (“good” bacteria) and prebiotics (essentially food for probiotics) Valmont Primary Collection (from $155, lamaisonvalmont.com) encourages a balanced complexion. The ultra-high temperature sterilization process allows for maximum efficacy with minimum preservatives.
A Sweet-Smelling Scrub
Scrub up with The Body Shop’s latest Limited Edition Zesty Lemon Body Scrub ($22, thebodyshop.com). The tangy lemon-y scent is ultra-refreshing, while organic sugar softens rough skin from head-to-doe.
A Canadian-Made Hair Care Line
Toronto-based celebrity hairstylist and TV personality Aaron O’Bryan just launched his debut hair collection, AOB. The flexible jumbo-sized pouches that house the products are perfect for those who seek professional-grade haircare with minimal packaging. AOB Volume Shampoo ($32, aobproducts.ca)
A Leave-On Exfoliator
Dermalogica Clear Start FlashFoliant ($35, dermalogica.ca) mask is the perfect antidote for teen breakouts. This wallet-friendly leave-on exfoliator (you heard that right, no rinse) gently unclogs pores and has a delightful foaming texture.
A Long-Wear Liner
A swipe of L’Oréal Paris Le Liner Signature ($14, at Shoppers Drug Mart) across the lids is all you need to create a blacker-than-black cat eye that’s as effortless as it is chic.
A Powerhouse Night Mask
Launched back in May, Neostrata Overnight Anti-Pollution Treatment ($58, shoppersdrugmart.ca) contains a potent combination of 8% polyhydroxy acids, lilac plant cell extract and evening primrose oil to replenish hydration and support your skin’s moisture barrier while you sleep. Sweet dreams.
