NYFW Spring 2014 Backstage Beauty: Bare Nails Reign Supreme
Get ready to bare all like they did at DKNY. All photos courtesy of Essie.
At my first New York Fashion Week Show (Rag & Bone), I caught a moment alone with the legendary nail painter Jin Soon, who was busy
painting models’ nails with Revlon’s Sheer Sweetie Nail Polish. "It’s a sheer cream," she said. "You’re going to see a lot of nudes this season at New York Fashion Week," she said. "Sixty to 70% of shows will be more bare," she said.
More on the bare nail trend after the jump…
Leave it to Jin Soon to nail a trend before it happens. Is there an anti-nail art revolution at play? At Jason Wu and Marc by Marc Jacobs, models wore clear nail polish. Nude nails were spotted at Diane Von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, Vera Wang, Monique Lhullier, DKNY and Helmut Lang. At Delpozo, the nails were lightly buffed to a matte finish and left naked. So, fret not about smudges, chips and imperfect nail art for Spring 2014. If all else fails, make like Marc and give your nails a quick once over with a shiny topcoat.
