NYFW Fall 2014 Beauty: Russian ballerinas on the run at DVF
Can your ballerina bun do this? Image courtesy Imaxtree.
At the much anticipated Fall 2014 DVF show (40 years! So many great models!), the muse was Russian refugees. Orlando Pita for BioSilk told us the following tale: "The collection is inspired by Russian refugees who had to flee Russian in the last century. They grabbed everything they could, like their valuables and left. Diane wanted something that was
ballerina-inspired bun—but a ballerina in rehearsal, not in performance. So it’s not perfectly done. With the BioSilk Strong Hold Hairspray, we’re spraying our
brush and using it this way [he tilts the brush sideways and rakes through one model’s hair] to make it look finger combed. We have the serum for the girls who have drier hair, and gel for some others—it’s a different recipe for each girl."
Does her hair look thirsty? Pita thought so.
