File this under #WTH for
Fall 2014 beauty trends. Green
eyeshadow. We probably should have seen this coming (blue lids, orange lips, you’ve had your time—this shade was due for some love), but it snuck up on us very subtly, starting with a greasy, olive green eye by Tom Pecheux for MAC at Peter Som (above), followed by a
golden glitter blend at Altuzarra (Tom Pecheux for MAC, again) and then again with blend of "lagoon" smoky green eyes at Derek Lam (this time it was Tom Pechueux for Estée Lauder). So we’re thinking we should blame Tom Pecheux? After
Gucci Westman uploaded a photo of a green velvet chair, the famous face painted commented by saying "Green is the new black"—and it seems like he’s taken that show to heart. (For a giggle, check out
what Tom Pecheux commented on one of my Instagram photos earlier this week). In the last two days, we’ve also seen green eyeshadow interpreted in opposite ends of the spectrum. Last night at Narciso Rodriguez, Dick Page used a faint wash of lime on some of the models from a soon-to-be-launched Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Static—"the green reflects a little gold," Page notes. And at Anna Sui this evening,
COVERGIRL Global Creative Design Director Pat McGrath custom blended a striking shimmering emerald shadow to paint on half of the models, covering the entire eyelid. Green shadow with metallic undertones? We could get use to this.
