Backstage at the Fall 2015 Missoni show, makeup artist Lucia Pieroni finally said the word every beauty editor has been wishing for: BROWS. "They’ve all got the same crescent moon shaped eyebrow," she said. "It’s slightly fatt-ish. We’re taking something gorgeous that you wouldn’t normally see—gorgeous porcelain skin— and pairing with a weird eyebrow," she said, referencing Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft. Pieroni used M.A.C Strobe Cream to mimic glowing Victorian skin. For the "dark red stained mouth," she dragged M.A.C. lipstick in "Spice it Up" across lips so they looked "slightly snogged."
As for the hair? That crusty finish has seemingly become hair stylist Paul Hanlon’s signature (unless it’s just me?) finish. "It’s quite couture and not natural," says Hanlon. "It’s very different from [Missoni] has done in the past—it’s a lot more of a look." Hanlon said he consulted fashion photography from the late ’80s (i.e Peter Lindbergh)
Hanlon used MoroccanOil Volumizing Mousse and MoroccanOil Root Boost to create a complicated series of curls that started out as a bun, then were soaked with mousse, "rolled up very rampantly in sort of ’40s rolls", curled and then covered it netting and shaped with a hair dryer to create a shell-like shape to hair. "They’re sort of like ’50s mannequins in shop windows," he says. Rather than the fuzziness you get from the mousse, For a shell-like finish to hair (you want crunch, not fuzz, he says) he used several million (I kid) blasts of MoroccanOil Luminous Hairspray Strong.
