The Best of Haute Couture Beauty Fall 2018
The beauty looks at haute couture shows can be out of our hair and makeup comfort zones (and sometimes, it’s pretty far out).
This season gave us the perfect mix of aspirational, like the soft washes of cotton candy-pink eyeshadow at Armani Privé, and purely inspirational, like the voluminous hair at Valentino. Here’s a rundown of our favourite looks straight off the runway.
1/14© GettyHairstylist Sam McKnight and makeup artist Tom Pechaux were the dynamic duo beyond this statement hair and makeup on the Chanel runway. The edginess of what McKnight called "rockabilly rolls" were offset by soft and shimmering emerald and gold eyeshadows.
Fendi© GettyThe beauty look at Fendi is something we feel we could duplicate. When doing your winged liner, start the flick as you normally would, then just keep going, and going and going. It will be memorable, to say the least. The hair look is best left to professionals.
Iris Van Herpen© GettyThe infamous mullet slogan ("business in the front, party in the back") seems to apply to the look at Iris Van Herpen. We were surprised (and delighted) with this edgy twist on what looked like a classic ponytail.
Armani Privé© GettyApplied incorrectly, pink eyeshadow tends to look...contagious. This was not the case Armani Privé, where a wash of eyeshadow was combined with eyeliner and plenty of mascara for a feminine, wearable result.
Ralph & Russo© GettyRalph & Russo took the classic red lip back to the '80s by pairing it with pink and purple eyeshadow.
Valentino© GettyDolly Parton told us that the bigger the hair, the closer to God, so the models at Valentino must have been positively angelic. Not a look we recommend wearing when going to concerts or movies.
Givenchy© GettyYes, yes, yes to this metallic nymph princess look at Givenchy. Other models wore a strong contour and a soft wing liner = simplistic perfection.
Christian Dior© GettyWe will never tire of the simple statement of a ponytail bound with string, as shown at Christian Dior. A couture look that I'm RTW.
Viktor & Rolf© GettyThis midnight-black eyeshadow at Viktor & Rolf had a glitter to it, which perfectly matched the sparkly black runway.
Elie Saab© GettyIf you're in a committed relationship with wearing your hair down, the deep side part, as seen at Elie Saab, is an easy way to switch up your look without doing anything drastic.
Valentino© GettyFlower crowns, but make it fashion at Valentino.
