“The bolder the better” was the message at Rodarte, where makeup artist James Kaliardos was inspired by NARS’ recently reformulated pigment-packed eyeshadows to lay down opaque electric hues. For a tonal look à la Marc Jacobs, swipe on shadow from eyelid to eyebrow in the same shade as your outfit. No need for elaborate palettes and multiple steps—just pick an alluring-to-you hue and apply.

The statement lip has universal appeal: It can be kept classic with well-defined lines and a creamy-matte texture, as seen at Burberry, or applied right from the bullet, like Lucia Pica did at Chanel, with setting powder layered on for a blurred just-been-kissed look. Our favourite way to wear it? À la Escada, where Pat McGrath paired a red lip with velvety skin and eyes that were softly defined with a taupe shadow.

Edgy, playful, artful—take your pick when it comes to liner this season. At Kith, Maybelline New York makeup artist Grace Lee elevated the traditional cat eye by playing with negative space, extending the line of the wing into the crease of the eye. At Self-Portrait, makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver wanted to capture the innocence of a teenager picking up eyeliner for the first time, creating painterly designs in white.

Leave room to be surprised: At Prabal Gurung, hairstylist Anthony Turner wove shoelaces he’d spotted at the dress rehearsal for the show into deconstructed updos “purely for fun,” he says. “It adds a pop of colour.”

The nail art this season was what (very aspirational) dreams are made of. For real-life wear, it was Essie lead nail artist Rita Remark’s delicate graphic lines, like the nautical-inspired stripes at Monse, that had us smitten. At Brandon Maxwell, Remark swiped on two coats of barely-there pink (see below), referring to the shiny shade as “lipgloss” for the nails—“effortless and perfect at all times.”
