“Monochromatic makeup is a super fun way to experiment with colour,” makeup artist Simone Otis told us of the look she created for Maram SS18 at RESET 002 in Toronto. “As long as you stay in the same colour family — and stay within the same tones for the cheek, lip and eye — you will be fine,” she explains. “It is a simple way to play with intense colour.”

Monochromatic makeup is still “uncharted area” for every day, says Otis. “This look feels like a modern take on editorial.” At Maram, it was all about the warm, rusty oranges. “We also highlighted the cheek in gold, and added clumpy lashes,” says Otis. “We wanted to do a bit of a boy brow too so that it feels bushy. I may brush them up with a little bit of clear mascara. This look feels very now.”
