“I came up with this little hack; B and I call it ‘PB & J’ – peanut butter and jelly,” says Sir John, celebrity makeup artist for L’Oréal Paris. (And by “B,” yes, he means Beyoncé.) Grab two shades of liquid lipstick, one darker than the other, like L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints in Fearless Fuchsia and DIY Red ($13 each, at drugstores and mass-market retailers). Put one colour on the top lip and the other on the bottom. Don’t rub your lips together; just smack them once. “You’re going to get this 3-D vibe, a nice marriage of colour that you don’t necessarily get from ombré,” he says. “No one knows what they’re looking at until they get very close.”
