1. PICK A FAVOURITE LIPSTICK, LIKE REESE WITHERSPOON

In 1912, Elizabeth Arden (née Florence Nightingale, after the woman considered to be the founder of modern nursing) marched down Fifth Avenue in New York City to demand the right to vote and supplied her fellow suffragettes with red lipstick from her fledgling beauty business. Over a century later, the not-so-little brand from the Woodbridge, Ont., native is donating 100 percent of the proceeds from a new red lipstick, fronted by Reese Witherspoon, to UN Women, an organization dedicated to women’s empowerment.

2. STREAMLINE YOUR MAKEUP ROUTINE LIKE GAL GADOT

“Wonder Woman needs to look like she doesn’t wear makeup but [still] look perfect, and that’s the hardest thing,” says actress and Revlon global brand ambassador Gal Gadot on the beauty dilemma of a superhero character whose priorities do not involve a cut crease but whose face will be projected on massive high-def screens. The solution: Makeup artists on the Wonder Woman set focused on perfecting Gadot’s skin by mixing her foundation with moisturizer and then applying it like you would a cream. “It evens out your skin tone and looks dewy, like a second skin,” says Gadot.

It’s a strategic approach to makeup application that Gadot, who joins models Ashley Graham, Adwoa Aboah, Imaan Hammam and Raquel Zimmermann as the face of the Revlon Live Boldly campaign, also employs in her own life. “You need to be smart when you use it and pick a place to feature,” she says, like eyes, lips or cheekbones. “Less is more—that’s my motto with makeup as well.”

3. FIND THE HAIR PRODUCT THAT WORKS FOR YOU, LIKE PRIYANKA CHOPRA

“When I first started in the beauty business in 2000, I was 17 years old,” says actress Priyanka Chopra. “I literally went from high school to the world stage, and I thought that [I] needed to do everything: My hair was done, and lots of makeup was done, and lots of styling was done. Over time, with my stylist and glam squad, we reduced all of it. I didn’t think it would be a big deal [to not] wear as much foundation or fake lashes or stop teasing the back of my hair—I did that for years; I wanted big, big hair!—but it has made such a difference. I transitioned from that mindset into ‘I love my hair—it’s a source of confidence.’”

The path to finding hair nirvana, says the Pantene spokesperson, is the right product. “You just need the right shampoo and conditioner,” she explains. “It really sets the tone for your hair to be manageable. It listens to you!” No teasing required.
