Dior Cruise 2018 went down in Calabasas, California last night, but not a Kardashian-Jenner was in sight. The show was held at sunset in the sprawling Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve (think Gone With The Wind-esque landscapesit was filmed there), and the beauty look reflected a woman who was more likely to be found strolling through those fields than through a Sephora. “It’s more Georgia O’Keeffe than Hollywood movie star,” said Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, of the direction he gave for the groomed but not overly perfected brows. Rouge Dior Lipstick in Ready #642 was applied on the bridge of the nose, eyelids and under the chin (it frames the face, explains Philips), for an overall glow that was “sun-kissed without being sun-tanned.” Philips also used his thumbs to press the peachy brick shade low on the face, right under the cheekbones, for an athletic-looking flush, as if you’d spent the day outside. It was a much more minimal makeup look than we’re used to seeing in Calabasas, but who needs a two-hour glam when you have the golden cast of the setting sun—the closest thing to a real-life filter. “L.A. has the most beautiful sunsets,” said Philips, who reflected on his very first, which he spent sitting on the letter O in the iconic Hollywood sign after a photo shoot there with supermodel Kate Moss. “That was a memorable day.”
