Kat Von D Beauty is a prime example that makeup can be 100% vegan and cruelty-free without compromising quality. The brand uses top alternatives to common animal-derived ingredients like beeswax and carmine (a red dye made from beetles), so that animal lovers don’t have to settle for lousy pigments. 

 

CAKE BEAUTY

Not that we needed another reason to buy one of the best dry shampoos of all time, but Canadian hair and skincare brand Cake Beauty is also vegan and cruelty-free, as certified by PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies.

 

RAHUA

In addition to being entirely vegan, Rahua hair care is made with organic plant-derived ingredients and is totally free of parabens, sulphates and gluten—which basically means you can feel really good about what you are putting on your hair. 

 

ODACITÉ

Odacité skincare promises to only test their products on real people and never on our furry friends. Its products are filled with high-quality ingredients to target every concern, from dullness to breakouts. 

 

OSEA

OSEA products are fully vegan, which they say is an eco-friendly practice. “To produce one pound of animal protein vs. one pound of plant protein, it takes about 12 times as much land, 13 times as much fossil fuel and 15 times as much water,” says their website. 

 

CLOVE + HALLOW

Makeup brand Clove + Hallow has a variety of vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics that are affordable and rival some of our existing favourites. They also follow a “Clean15” rule, meaning there are 15 ingredients or less in their base formulas.

 

VINTNER’S DAUGHTER

In 2014, Vintner’s Daughter introduced the Active Botanical Serum, a facial oil made up of 22 plant-based ingredients that has since developed a rabid fan base. 

 

PAI

British skincare brand Pai never tests on animals, formulates with sustainable plant ingredients and make a point to use recyclable or biodegradable packaging. 

 

CONSCIOUS COCONUT

Conscious Coconut uses certified fair-trade, organic, vegan and cruelty-free coconuts to create their products. 

 

NUDESTIX

Nudestix is a Canadian mother-and-daughter(s) company all about embracing the no-makeup-makeup-look. We love how easy it is apply their eyeshadow sticks—and that they are vegan. 

 

COVER FX

Created by the former chief cosmetic chemist at M.A.C Cosmetics, you can trust that all Cover FX makeup performs. It’s also all vegan and cruelty-free, as well as free of parabens, fragrance, talc, mineral oil and gluten. 

 

ZELENS

Vegan anti-aging line Zelens was founded by plastic surgeon Dr. Marko Lens. Turns out an animal-friendly way to fight aging is just what the doctor ordered.

 

PACIFICA

Pacifica is a one-stop beauty shop with a wide range of makeup, skincare and fragrances that are all vegan and cruelty free.

 

SKYN ICELAND

Although stress seems like an unavoidable reality, at least Skyn Iceland has an array of vegan products that help alleviate the effect of it on our skin. 

 

ELATE CLEAN COSMETICS

Canadian makeup line Elate Cosmetics packages their entirely vegan products in the most beautiful sustainable bamboo packaging. The Vancouver-based company is also cruelty free, gluten free and looks stunning on top of any vanity. 

 

SAPPHO NEW PARADIGM

This Canadian cosmetic brand from television-industry makeup artist JoAnn Fowler has a wide array of vegan makeup, from foundations (which we’re a fan of!) to pigmented eyeshadows and lip glosses.
