Sexy hair doesn’t have to be reserved for Valentine’s Day. Instead dare to have sexy hair all year long. With our expert hair style advice you’ll be well on your way to achieving hair that is healthy, soft and has that comes with sex appeal.

Get your hair touchably soft

Before styling your hair, you need to make sure it’s healthy, soft and tangle-free, and this starts in the shower with your shampoo and conditioner, says Susana Hong, a Toronto-based hair stylist represented by Page One Management. If you have longer, finer, or damaged hair, you’re likely more prone to tangles in your hair style. If this is you, Hong recommends seeking out a product specifically created for damaged hair as it will moisturize, improve flexibility and manageability. Ideally, you want a product that will reduce friction between the hair strands and makes for easy combing. “I like Tresemme Split Remmmedy Leave-in Conditioning Spray because it doesn’t compromise volume and makes for easy styling as you are able to comb through it, while also reducing frizz.”

Get that incredible bounce

Want that bouncy Victoria’s Secret angel type of hair? The key to volume and bounce is a root-boosting spray, says Hong. Each product will perform differently but she suggests using it not only on the roots but all over your hair “because volume is not only for the top of your hair.” With a product that doesn’t have a sticky feel, hair will have lots of movement without looking like there’s product on it. To apply the spray, spray it on towel-dried hair starting at the roots, then work your way down. Next blow dry your hair upside down with a vent brush. “This not only lifts the hair but smoothes it out as well,” explains Hong. Then, wrap one-inch sections of hair around jumbo hot rollers and leave on for a minimum of 20 minutes. Take the hot rollers out, brush the hair upside down, and there you have it: sexy, voluminous, tousled hair.

Go for more casual, beachy look

If hair à la Gisele is what you have in mind, start with a volume mousse on damp hair at the roots and work your way down. “I recommend mousse for this style to add a bit of hold and texture for the curling iron later,” says Hong. Blow dry hair upside down, just shaking the hair with your fingers as you go. “This is because we want to keep a lot of your natural texture rather than smoothing it out completely,” she says. When the hair is dry, wrap 1/4" sections of hair around a 1 1/4 inch curling iron, wrapping the hair away from the face. But you don’t have to do the entire length of the hair. In fact, avoid curling the ends. “Leaving them with just a slight bend is sufficient and gives it that relaxed look—we want to avoid a ringlet type of a curl,” says Hong. To finish the style, shake out the hair, apply some serum on the ends and shaft to give it some shine and definition.

Go for a sexy librarian look

There’s something about hair loosely pulled up into a bun or ponytail for a sophisticated look that can easily be shaken out that will always be sexy—the whole librarian-becomes-vixen fantasy. Besides, on the trend side of things, buns and ponytails are huge this upcoming season, says Hong. She suggests a middle part for rounder or squarer face shapes, and a side part for a narrow face. “This is a good rule of thumb, but there are numerous in-between shapes so it’s a matter of preference sometimes.” Once you’ve chosen your part, smooth comb the hair in place and gather the hair at the nape of the neck and tie into place. Using a flexible hold hairspray, spray down any flyaways. For a bun, wrap the hair loosely into a bun and pin into place with a few bobby pins.
