Call it the Khaleesi effect. Braids are back big time for spring judging by the Spring 2016 runways – Rebecca Minkoff! Rachel Antonoff! Mara Hoffman! – at New York Fashion Week.

At Hervé Léger, New York Fashion Week Ambassador for TRESemmé, Orlando Pita designed a crown braid/side braid hybrid. “It’s a new softer look for our Hervé Léger girl this season, she’s still creating a strong statement with the braid but we’ve played with making this more relaxed with purposely pulled out with loose pieces that frame her face and create beautiful movement when she walks,” he says.

Here’s how to get the look in four simple steps:

Step 1: After towel drying hair, apply TRESemmé’s Fresh Start Basic Care Dry Shampoo ($5.99 at drugstores and mass-market retailers) from root to tip and blow dry with a round bristle brush.

Step 2: Create a deep side part and, starting from the crown, begin French braiding across your forehead, feeding hair from underneath. Feel free to leave some strands loose for a perfectly imperfect touch.

Step 3: Secure the braid into a low pony at the nape of the neck.

Step 4: Spritz TRESemmé’s Perfectly (un)Done Waves Ultra Brushable Hold Hairspray ($5.99, at drugstores and mass-market retailers) atop your crown to keep it in place. Voilà!
