Hair at David Dixon was simple yet edgy. "The key to super slicked hair is in the set up," says Redken’s international artist Jorge Joao. "Make sure your hair is wet, or use a texture spray. You've got to wet the root in some fashion." Backstage at Toronto Women's Fashion Week, Joao applied texturizing spray Redken Guts 10 ($24), then sectioned hair into a severe side part and used a blow dryer to lock it in. "You need to blow dry the hair into position. A lot of people will just part their hair and then try to make it stay with hairspray. That won't work. You have to set it right from the beginning with heat," he says. Finish by flat ironing any unruly strands, and tuck hair behind your ears.
