Live from New York City, Sergio Hudson shared their Fall-Winter 2022 collection. While the runway looks were on point, so were the model’s hairstyles, courtesy of Amika’s Global Artistic Director, Naeemah Lafond. As models walked down the catwalk in the brand’s latest collection, their hair was pulled out of their face into a sleek yet voluminous ponytail. Their curls were able to run wild but still felt confined. In an exclusive interview, Lafond shares her inspiration behind the hair looks and how to achieve a sleek ponytail at home using Amika products.

On Her Inspiration

“The look for Sergio Hudson is inspired by glamorous girls on safari. This hair is bold and head turning, but it’s still practical. The contrast between the sleek and sculpted vs. the brushed out and natural, has our model just as prepared for the wild as she is for a night out.”

On How to Get the Look

1. Start the look by creating a clean deep side part

2. Bring hair into a sleek ponytail

3. Add hair extensions depending on hair type and color.

4. Use the smallest barrel curler attachment of The Chameleon 5 Barrel Interchangeable Curling Kit (.35-.75mm) to curl the hair in alternating directions.

5. Brush curls out with paddle brush row by row, starting at the bottom. Set each section with Headstrong Intense Hold Hairspray.

6. If the extensions are synthetic, skip the curling and just spray with Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray throughout, prior to brushing out, and spray with Headstrong Intense Hold Hairspray.

7. Finish the look with Top Gloss Shine Spray only on the sleek portion of the pony, and add gold hair wire to the base of the pony.
