Moschino Fall 2013: Get the look

Moschino’s Fall 2013 fashion presentation left us all speechless with its stunning display of
crisp plaids and well-tailored garments. But what truly left us breathless was the dreamy, minimalist beauty look—created by the ever-so-talented Tom Pecheux and Sam McKnight—that the decorated models paraded down the runway. We immediately fell in love with the muted mauve lip, plump eyelashes and warm, blushing cheeks as fresh face fall makeup options. (Who could resist this clean and easy look—honestly?) Plus, Moschino’s dashing fall hairstyle—a low pony with hidden elastic—was a definite stand out for the season.

“The hair style at Moschino Fall 2013 had an equestrian feel—it was shiny with a bit of height at the crown and wrapped in a low ponytail. It is very simple to recreate at home,” says Justin German—Consulting Hair Stylist for Pantene. Moschino’s fall makeup look was just as charismatic. “The pink flushed cheeks set against alabaster skin is so ‘new romantic.’ Adorable and right on trend,” says Jane McKay—Senior Makeup Artist for M.A.C Cosmetics.

Moschino’s poetic fall makeup and simple hairstyle are both ideal for cooler temperatures. “The dramatic chunky eye lashes really make a statement and frame the light coloured eye makeup. Plus, the flushed cheeks and lips add warmth and innocence to the look. It is not a threatening look…at all,” says McKay. The hairstyle works great for autumn too, combing away loose hair and tucking it into a low pony for colder, wetter weather.

Moschino Fall 2013: Makeup tips

Here is your step-by-step guide for creating Moschino’s fall makeup look, straight from the words of McKay:

Step 1: Apply a mineral foundation that is at least one shade lighter than your natural skin tone.

Step 2: Use a white eye shadow to completely cover your eyelid and under eye area.

Step 3: Brush and buff out eyebrows with a comb.

Step 4:  Swipe on a thick, volumizing black mascara. “Apply an ample amount on top and bottom lashes. When you think you have added enough, add more. Don’t worry about the clumps,” says McKay. (This is what makes the style unique).

Step 5: Brush on a light pink
powder blush to the apple of your cheek.

Step 6: Throw on a lip conditioner and light coat of matte pink lipstick to finish off the look.

Moschino Fall 2013: Hair tips
With your glowing fall makeup in place, use these fall hair style steps from German to mimic Moschino’s delicate and refined low ponytail:

Step 1: Create a deep side part through your hair.
Step 2: Tease and backcomb hair at the crown and/or top of the head.
Step 3: Gather hair into a low pony at the base of the neck and tie with an elastic.
Step 4: Grab a one-inch section of hair from either side of the pony and wrap it around the elastic until it disappears. Secure the hair by tucking it beneath the elastic or with a pin.
Step 5: Using a large barrel curling iron, curl the entire ponytail to get the signature Moschino wave.
Step 6: Complete the sleek pony with a few glossy hair products. “Put a BB crème in wet hair; it will give you the smooth, shiny finish you are after. A wax can be used to smooth any flyways after you create the ponytail,’ says German.
