Remember cell phones before the iPhone came along? I’m pretty sure they all had screens the size of a postage stamp and weighed more than Pat McGrath’s 20 fashion week suitcases. Ditto for vacuum cleaners before Dyson decided to bring sexy back to household appliances (okay, that might be a bit of a stretch — vacuums probably never had a Justin Timberlake moment). Now, Philips have decided to make toothbrushes a covetable design item with the Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush. Let’s talk function before I get to the impressive form. The bristles on this electric toothbrush are diamond shaped, so they provide a greater surface area for cleaning and remove plaque up to 5x better than a regular toothbrush (you’re not still using one of those, are you?). Whiter teeth in one week is also a promise. As for the looks aspect, aside from a very sleek, stylish travel case that charges via your laptop USB, the genius of this toothbrush design is the charger. Charging the battery (which lasts for 3 weeks at a time, by the way) is done through… a glass. Just toss it in, and go. Bathroom counter aesthetic restored and elevated.
