Before getting started
Before you decide to commit yourself fully to a new haircolour, we recommend that you do a strand test. There’s really nothing to it (just snip a strand of your hair, wrap one end with tape to keep it together and place it in the colour mixture – for more details, see instruction sheet inside the box) and you’ll come out of it knowing just what kind of colour results to expect. And speaking of great results, if you’ve been blessed with thick hair or have hair that is past your shoulders, we suggest using at least two boxes of formula to make sure your hair gets all the coverage it deserves.

Tip: To avoid haircolour stains on your skin, apply a moisturizer along the hairline (without touching the hair) before starting the application.

Application: touch-up vs. full head

When it comes to applying haircolour, you can go one of two ways: touch-up or full head. When colouring hair with the same shade every four to six weeks, a touch-up application is recommended. Touch-up application means concentrating the application on re-growth at the roots, and applying only to the length and ends at the end of the waiting period to refresh the colour if needed. Full-head application, on the other hand, involves covering the entire head with colour and is a necessary step when applying colour for the first time to natural, uncoloured hair, when changing brand or shade, or when the last colouring was done more than three months ago. As a general rule, we recommend that you avoid applying colour to the entire head of hair each time – when colouring with the same shade every four to six weeks – because, over time, total coverage often makes the ends appear too darkly coloured.

Tip: Don’t forget to use all of the product you’ve prepared. We can’t emphasize it enough: missing product means missing coverage!

Rinsing and after-colouring care

After the waiting time indicated in the instruction sheet has elapsed, it’s time to rinse the colouring completely and condition your hair. Here’s a little trick to make hair shiny: rinse hair in steps instead of all at once. First, add a little water and lather the colouring like a shampoo. Then, add a little more water and continue to lather.

After repeating this process three or four times, rinse until water is clear.
Now you can finish up by applying the after-colouring care. Simply massage it in, leave for two minutes, and then rinse completely. You’ll notice that your hair is softer and more brilliant, with colour that stays shinier longer.
