Makeup
“The emphasis for the Lucian Matis show is on the cheekbones and eyes,” says Eddie Malter, Artistic Director for LG Fashion Week, admitting, for once, that this look is slightly less wearable than the other beauty looks he pulled together for the week of runway shows. He used the beige shade from L’Oréal Paris HIP Bright Shadow Duos in Shady 836 all over the lid, followed by applying the darker shade to contour the eye and the crease, to create a sculpting effect. In the inner corners of the eye, Malter highlighted using L’Oréal Paris HIP eye Shadow Duo in Gilded 806. As for the cheeks, he used True Match Blush in Baby Blossom C1-2, starting lower down on the cheek – think in the lower crease of where the apple of your cheek starts, working many circular swipes of the blush outwards. Why did Malter seem to use this particular shade of blush in so many of the shows? It’s one of his favourites because “with a very soft touch it will be a fresh pastel pink, and if you work more of it on, it has a beautiful strong result, like here for the Lucian Matis show.” Brows were left untouched and lips were kept nude, simply highlighted with a bit of natural shine using a clear lip gloss.

Hair
“One of the trends this season is big shapes,” says lead hair stylist Eric Del Monaco. Take for example the hair at Lucian Matis. “The look is a little Elizabethan in shape with a 1960s Jackie O finish.” Del Monaco achieved the faux-bob by teasing the bottom layers of hair and gathering it into a big round ball, and then piecing the top layers section by section over the ball, pinning the sections underneath with a bobby pin. You can tone down the look by using a paddle brush to recreate the look only with a condensed shape. With all of this teasing stressing out one’s tresses, though, Del Monaco recommends a once weekly deep conditioner (and not just on the ends, deep condition all the way to your scalp when you’re styling your hair this heavily) to keep your mane healthy.
