The most inventive press kit goes to...
I waked into the office this morning to find an announcement from
announcing Kiera Knightly's return as the face of
(More on that
.) I suppose it doesn't surprise you when I say we receive dozens of these press kits daily: Beauty companies, fashion houses and luxury brands alert us to every new launch, product and trend and, it's safe to say, our pages wouldn't exist if it weren't for these people giving us the goods. It can be overwhelming digesting all of this information, so I always like to tip my hat to those companies that go that extra mile to grab our attention (remember
)? Chanel never disappoints me, but this little trinket sort of threw me off. Take a look:
I shot this on my BB, so it's blurry and some of the intricate details may be lost on you (ie: the fact that the face on the plastic doll is more Ken than Kiera), but I've never seen anything like it. It is a mini-me version of Keira (dressed as she appears in the
, sans sexy motorcycle) on a silver chain necklace. Huh. Is it wrong to admit that I had a moment trying to figure out how I could pull this off? (I wasn't kidding when I said I loved Chanel.) This isn't the first time the brand has pushed the sartorial envelope: I recall receiving a gold-platted whistle with a logo-emblazoned ribbon celebrating Audrey Tautou's
role as the face of Chanel No. 5
sits on my desk
today), and, back in the spring of 2009, skipping through a look book with an opening image of a gold lame guitar case with massive double C's on its front (Incidentally, it also sits on my desk. Here,
.) So odd, and yet so original. Props to you, Karl et al!
