Walking distance from David Pecaut Square: 6 minutes
Uber-ing distance from David Pecaut Square: 3 minutes So you’ve just spent a long and chaotic day at Toronto Fashion Week. You’re well dressed, but beyond stressed. You need some serious R&R, and you need it now. Where to find serenity? Remove yourself from the frigid temperatures of downtown Toronto and get thee to the Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie Paris tucked inside the Shangri-La Hotel for a Hammam & Gommage treatment: a dreamy 30-minute steam and body exfoliation ($130). After stripping down, you step into a steam room (read: oasis) to detoxify your weary body, then relax on Jerusalem gold marble where you’re scrubbed down with a eucalyptus-infused soap. (Around this time you’ll need to remind yourself that you are still in Toronto and not, in fact, in Istanbul). To wrap up your retreat, you’re guided into a colourful Byzantine-esque lounge where you can relax and indulge in baklava and grapes for as long as you wish. At a recent visit, the only downside I found was forcing myself to head back to Fashion Week. I wasn’t quite done feeling like a queen. – Monika Markovinovic
