The easy vibe at Gucci

Katherine Flemming, health and beauty editor: It was underwhelming to see this oft-sexy show whip up a beauty look that felt very everyday. But makeup artist Pat McGrath keeps saying that “fresh beauty” is here to stay so I guess I’ll have to suit up and adjust.

Victoria DiPlacido, assistant beauty editor: In a word: underwhelming. I did, however, appreciate the toques/berets. (A bad hair day will be harder for outsiders to distinguish from a day in which I am feeling very inspired by Gucci.)

KF: The fact that this simple hairdressing trick has continued through Milan is proof that it’s one of fall 2015’s biggest trends. It’s also one of those styles that looks very cool-girl-on-the-street.

VDP: Remember this look we fawned over from London Fashion Week? It’s back, disguised as a low ponytail. It’s by far the easiest F/W ‘15 beauty look to incorporate into your daily routine right now.

KF: The scattered eyeliner felt controlled in such a way that it was still beautiful. And the addition of Doutzen Kroes to the casting made this show extra sweet.

VDP: If you no longer have class to go to in the morning, this is how you wear a headband.

The faux-bobs at Max Mara

KF: Though I’m always game for a faux-bob (which had a really modern, messy texture), what attracted me more to this show was the gorgeous printed glasses.

VDP: The models gave off serious bombshell vibes (a testament to Tom Pecheux’s “Marilyn Monroe on the beach” hair) in this ‘50s-inspired look.

The Prada ponytails

KF: These elegant, youthful ponytails that Guido Palau created had every editor swooning backstage, and with good reason. After the hair was scraped into a high knot and the ends were chopped, up to three glittering barrettes were secured into the hair. Paulo said it was a reaction to the easy texture that we’ve seen elsewhere. (Burberry, etc.)

VDP: We’ve seen ponytails own the runways for two seasons now, but none that were quite like this modern feminine masterpiece. Patiently awaiting my gala invite – any fancy event will do, really – so I can try this one out.

The ‘80s volume at Moschino

KF: The lifted-from-the-root texture here felt like a modernized Kelly Kapowski, which felt a little hard to digest at first, but made so much sense once you saw it bouncing down the runway.

VDP: If you are going to attempt ‘80s-level volume, do as Moschino, and pair hair with understated makeup and glowing skin.
