To celebrate Canada’s 150th, we are on the hunt for the country’s boldest, most exciting new writing star. Could that be you, dear reader?
For our first-ever ELLE Canada Writing Competition, we’re inviting YOU to send us a 700-word personal essay on the fashion moment that changed your life.
This topic is open to interpretation—you can write about a monumental event, a highly personal discovery or even a simple occurrence that has affected you and the way you think, behave or dress.
Our panel of judges (who are all kind of a big deal in the Canadian literary world) will carefully select the winner, and you will not only see your work in our November 2017 issue but also win $500. Deadline for submissions is August 31, 2017.
HOW TO ENTER:
1) Email your submission (no attachments; please paste into the body of the email) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
2) Please include your full name, address, date of birth, email and telephone number.
The contest judges are:
Vanessa Craft, ELLE Canada editor-in-chief
Sarah Heller, literary agent
Diane Turbide, publishing director at Penguin Canada
Heather O'Neill, award-winning author of The Lonely Hearts Hotel
