Spruce Body Lab
I had never even heard of La Stone Therapy and now it’s one of the only facials I’ll ever get. Using stones from volcanic eruptions, found at the ocean’s edge, technicians at Spruce Body Lab will rejuvenate your skin, body and mind in a such a unique way that you’ll carry the experience with you long after you leave their serene environment. Soon to celebrate its first anniversary, Spruce Body Lab is already expanding as its service and customer care is above the industry standard. I indulged in a La Stone Therapy facial whereby my skin was worked on with hot basalt stone, followed by cooling and calming hand-carved marble to tone and detoxify. It doesn’t end there. Expert skin technician Kathryn Heatlie then offers you the options of scalp, foot and calf or hand and arm massage. I went for the foot massage and was brought further in to a state of relaxation. Once your treatment concludes, you’re given a face-mapping of your skin so that you can continue skin care prior to your next visit. Their skin treatments feature products by Dermalogica, a skin-care line researched and developed by the International Dermal Institute. Spruce Body Lab also offers massage therapy with one of the most sought-after masseurs in the city, as well as reflexology, Botox, microdermabrasion and waxing. Once you've been to Spruce Body Lab, you’ll want to make it a monthly habit. Your skin glows in a way you may have never thought possible. A 90-minute La Stone Therapy facial is $145 ($100 for a 60-minute session). Believe me, it will be the best money you’ve ever spent on your skin. --Larissa Primeau
