Peepshow Girly Boutique

This bold Barrington Street shop is an eyestopper; first because of its provocative moniker, and second, because it's packed full of great labels. It also lives up to its brash exterior offering the highest number of Canadian designer labels of any similar boutique in Halifax.

Owner-manager Erin Smith says Peepshow, which opened in late summer 2005, boasts 30 Canadian labels -- from David Bitton to Chulo Pony and Dace, the latter both from Vancouver. Peepshow fills a niche market: 18-40 year olds. Ms. Mills says some hot items, such as the men's necktie watches designed for women, are flying off the shelves. The necktie watch, ordered from the U.S., is in constant demand because they're funky and unavailable at any other boutique.

The boutique is also focusing on ordering entire lines from many other new Canadian designers.

Watch out for other popular labels like Parasuco and Bodybag.
