David Dixon
Now in the 10th year of his line, David Dixon is one of Canada's best homegrown talents. Boasting A-list clients like Meg Ryan, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Kristen Booth, this Toronto-based designer certainly knows what women want ... to wear that is!
Having collected a string of awards (most notably the City of Toronto New Designer of the Year in 1996, and the Matinee Fashion Foundation Recipient for 1999 and 2000), his designs are reconized as being avante-guard yet still maintaining a classic style. Citing Audrey Hepburn as a constant muse for his designs, Dixon's signature looks are based on very simple principles: elegance, timelessness and ease. "My clothing has a certain complexity," he says. "But at the same time, there is an effortless quality about them."
For the woman who wears David Dixon, it is all about a state of mind. "I try to design clothing that inspires the wearer to be more of themselves," says Dixon. "I hope to give them enhanced confidence and comfort."
