The brand's creative director talks about the artist who inspired the patterns and textures in the latest COS capsule.
To mark the Agnes Martin retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum, COS created a capsule collection directly inspired by the painter – from the way Martin dressed in her workshop to the direction of her brush strokes.
“One aspect that interests me about Martin’s work is her layering of paints that creates interesting textures and complexities,” says Karin Gustafsson, creative director for COS. These complexities and irregularities can be seen in the grid pattern of cashmere sweaters and imperfect hand-stitched stripes on T-shirts.
