It’s no wonder that Toni Maticevski’s resort 2016 collection includes something called a “Predator skirt.” With its sharp, almost claw-like hemline, the black midi is worthy of the name. Not all of the designer’s creations are quite as lethal – there’s plenty of sculpted gowns and exaggerated flared silhouettes. Designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales don’t just make beautiful clothes (although that’s commendable enough) but create fully realized explorations of such themes as childhood nostalgia, the Australian bush and ’60s girl gangs. Helmed by three Sydney sisters Cheryl, Vanessa and Gabrielle Manning, this 10-year-old ethical line is rooted in graphic prints.
