Costa has been with the company since 2003, bearing the role of creative director for 13 years. Although the company said that an announcement will be made 'in due course' about Costa's replacement, there is speculation that Raf Simons may be taking the helm.
For a little history, the brand started by Calvin Klein in a warehouse in the Bronx (rumour has it that a buyer got off on the wrong floor, saw Calvin's designs and made the first order) was sold to Phillips-Van Heusen in 2003, the same year Costa came on board. In 2013, the brand reacquired the denim and underwear divisions. The new creative director will potentially oversee all of these lines, offering wide-reaching creative control and endless possibilities.
