EXCLUSIVE: The body image documentary that will change how you view plus-size modelling

Canadian model Jessica Lewis, known for her work both as a straight-size and a plus-size model, has teamed up with producer Franses Simonovich and director Jenny McQuaile to produce the film Straight/Curve, a documentary look at the size debate in the modelling industry.

Dubbed as an all-access pass to the body image discussion in modelling, Lewis and her team go behind the scenes with Jennie Runk (the buzzed-about face of H&M’s 2013 swimwear campaign), Sophie Tweed-Simmons and Kate Dillon (the first plus-sized model to appear in American Vogue), for a candid exploration on how size matters. “I’m proud to be part of this film and the imperative issues of body image and health it examines for women in today’s society,” says Simonovich.

The documentary, which will cover two fashion seasons and the respective highs and lows experienced throughout, is slated for release in Fall 2016. Thanks to the involvement of industry influencers, this film could very well signal a shift in the way we think about body image.
