What ELLE Canada is obsessed with this week: Band of Outsiders lives on?

Since cancelling fall orders, closing the New York City flagship and bidding adieu on Instagram, Band of Outsiders made it pretty clear it was gone for good. This was the case up until two days ago, when Belgian fashion fund CCLA announced it will be continuing to market the brand in the US and overseas (which, we’re hoping, includes Canada). This may have something to do with auctioning off remaining assets and inventory – it’s likely no new pieces will be crafted any time soon, as designer Scott Sternberg is no longer involved. Still, we remain optimistic. This cloud’s silver lining may very well on the horizon. READ MORE: How to wear denim anywhere this summer

Perfect for sunshine-filled summer scorchers, this collection of bathing suits was made for beach days cavorting without the regrets. The specially designed fabric blocks 98% of UV rays and doesn’t lose potency with wear and washings. Plus, these suits are cute, which is a long-awaited bonus in the realm of functional fashion. What ELLE Canada is obsessed with this week: Alexander Wang's next move

Today, Balenciaga confirmed Wang will be departing following the October ready-to-wear show in Paris, and it seems that sufficient reasoning has now been supplied: With a brand growing quickly and at various consumer price points, the designer’s focus needed to shift back to his own projects. The 6,460-square-foot Alexander Wang flagship opens its ornate doors tomorrow in London – what will they reveal? READ MORE: Alexander Wang is leaving Balenciaga, we predict what’s next

What ELLE Canada is obsessed with this week: CFDA/Lexus Initiative

We've all heard of the Vogue Fashion Fund, the illustrious CFDA-collab that took Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and Public School from talented artists to household names. With the same goal in mind, the CFDA/Lexus Initiative (formerly titled the CFDA and Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge) is at the head of a 17-month intensive with submissions being taken now on cfda.com until September 14th. The advisory board has serious fashion ferocity, including Olivia Wilde, Maiyet designer Kristy Caylor and a member of the National Resource Defense Council.  READ MORE: These French women are giving us full-on wardrobe envy
