While romance may start under the mistletoe, it needs to be fueled with outings and eggnog to keep the flames burning all season. So we rounded up the cutest holiday winter date ideas to try with your significant other—or the guy you met at the punch bowl at your co-worker’s holiday party. Either way, get close, stay warm and soak up the romantic yuletide this season.

Winter date idea #1: Attend a hockey game

The large crowds, the hordes of screaming fans, the body-checking—as inherently unromantic as sitting in a hockey arena appears, there’s something charming (and quite Canadian) about snuggling up to your seatmate and cheering on your team during the game this time of year.

What to wear: This is not a matter to be taken lightly—literally. While your
blue and white dress may be appropriately themed, you won’t survive the frigid ice rink comfortably. (Plus shivering and goosebumps look good on no one.) If you’re a diehard (or want to look like one) don your favourite team jersey and pair with

Your tree needs trimming and it’s always easier to expertly wrap rows of lights and glittering garland with a second pair of eyes. Make a winter romantic day of it—put on Christmas music and sip hot chocolate while arranging your ornaments in order of sparkle preference.
