Fall 2015 designer to watch: Alexis Martial

The Paris designer and Iceberg creative director is the name most often floated as the next contender to take up the top gig at Carven, after Guillaume Henry vacated his post earlier this year (more on that later). Fashion's most literal enfant terrible made his triumphant return to the limelight in January this year for two reasons: as the new creative director at Maison Margiela, and for staging its Spring 2015 Artisanal couture show in his native London. Fall 2015 designer to watch: JW Anderson

2014 was a year of amping up the Irish designer's eponymous label: After LVMH annouced it was claiming a minority stake in the business, designer Jonathan Anderson swiftly hired a CEO, opened a new London studio and launched into e-commerce. Fall 2015 designer to watch: Anthony Vaccarello

After rotating through a series of designers – M.I.A., JW Anderson – for Versace's diffusion line, Donatella has settled upon Belgian designer Vaccarello as its new creative director. He presented his capsule Spring 2015 collection to slew of A-list celebs seated front row, but this season marks Vaccarello's official debut in his new gig. Fall 2015 designer to watch: Viktor & Rolf

The Dutch duo behind the Amsterdam-based house announced earlier this year that they are folding their ready-to-wear women's line to focus exclusively on couture and a blossoming foray into the world of fragrances. Fall 2015 designer to watch: Alessandro Michele

The final seat in fashion's favourite version of musical chairs has been filled...for now. With the announcement of Frida Giannini exiting the main post late last year, insiders were quick to namedrop possible A-list takers: Until Michele, most recently Gucci's accessories director, was announced in late January this year, Riccardo Tisci was believed to be poised for the takeover. To be fair, when aren't we watching the industry's most darling celeb designer? (That's what happens when you're enmeshed with that other royal family: Kim, Kanye, Kendall et. all.) Just five years after breathing new life into relaunched French house Carven, Henry is decamping for Nina Ricci, where creative director Peter Copping made the move to New York to take over at Oscar de la Renta. The former Nina Ricci artistic director was announced as Oscar de la Renta's CD this past fall – a mere week before the death of the namesake designer. Fall 2015 fashion week in New York marks Copping's first collection for Oscar de la Renta, and the first without the label's eponymous and beloved founder. Expect this show to be an emotional one.
