Island Girls
Tommy Hilfiger’s Pier 36 runway looked like a Caribbean palace complete with palm trees and a wooden walkway around a pool of water. The models wore colourful bikinis, mesh vests and crocheted bucket hats. I also discovered a new model to watch: Mica Arganaraz’s floppy tresses and lazy gaze evoked a kind of coolness as fresh as the holiday breeze.

Plastic fantastic
Jeremy Scott’s latest extravaganza, which he called “Remote Control,” was retro, graphic and stylishly synthetic. Gigi Hadid opened the show, her blonde wig bobbing along with the music as she strutted in plastic shoes; a collab with Melissa. We stopped by to say hello to the Misshapes, musicians and style icons in their own right. #partytime

3D couture!
There’s nothing like a private visit to view Chanel’s latest Haute Couture collection to make you feel like a little bit of a fashion insider. For this season’s Circle Privé, the show was set in a lavish casino, yet the pieces themselves resembled restraint, classicism and sobriety. Ten of the pieces were 3D printed and had only had embellishments added by hand. To take a process as storied as Haute Couture and infuse a level of future as daring as this, we leave it only to Kaiser Karl.

Fashion heroes
Talk about rising to the occasion!  The Libertine team experienced a fashion nightmare, but turned it into a dream. On their show notes they wrote: “Despite UPS losing a box that contained 20 of our most important show pieces, the Libertine team has rallied together over the last 48 hours, and we are very proud to present to you our abbreviated Spring 2016 collection.” Call me crazy, but this collection was nothing other than fantastic. I loved the whimsical patches, cheeky graphics and sequins that were simultaneously wearable and desirable beyond belief.
