Michael Kors' fall 2018 show was a greatest hits compilation

In more ways than one.

Editors, bloggers and celebrities including Zendaya and Blake Lively gathered at the Beaumont Theatre in Lincoln Centre to spend Valentine's Day morning with Michael Kors. The designer presented his fall 2018 collection, which he dubbed "a love letter to personal style." In Kors' case, personal style was as theatrical as the setting, and as eclectic as the soundtrack (a medley of 30-second cuts of everything from the Sound of Music to Britney Spears and Alicia Keys).

A lace-edged slip dress was paired with lug-tread lace-up boots for a Park Avenue-meets-grunge vibe, while another lingerie-inspired dress with a thigh-high slit was tucked under a camo hoodie and a leather camo-print jacket, giving off the kind off aspirational off-duty vibe made popular by the Hadids and Jenners of this world.

Some of the most memorable pieces were the patterned dresses, which were actually embellished with three-dimensional sequins, in person, they were mesmerizing.

The designer wasn't so much setting a defining trend for the upcoming season as offering an anthology of looks, letting the layered, multi-dimensional outfits speak to the rise of individuality in fashion. One look, consisting of a striped sweater, jeans a (faux!) fur yellow coat and tartan-print kitten heels was the perfect example. Will everyone want to wear it head-to-toe? Probably not, but everyone can find a piece that speaks to them a remix it with their own personal style. Or if in doubt, just cop Joan Small's chill closing look of sequin trousers, a graphic tee and slides.

Continuing with the theme of personal style, the brand also tapped the blogger set for its own set of street-style images. While the runway looks won't hit the rack for several months, the looks worn by Hikari Mori, Jessica Kahawaty and Tina Leung can be shopped on the Michael Kors website right now.
